Beef Bone Broth (Instant Pot Method)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 1 Beef Bone Broth Bundle
OR 3 lbs assorted beef bones

  • 1 medium onion, quartered

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 bay leaf

  • Water (to cover ingredients)

 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roast bones for 1 hour if desired (optional for richer flavor).

  2. Add all ingredients to your Instant Pot.

  3. Fill with enough water to cover bones and ingredients.

  4. Secure the lid and select Manual – 240 minutes (max time).

  5. Allow pressure to build, cook, and depressurize naturally.

  6. (Optional) For extra flavor, switch to slow cooker mode and cook for another 8 hours.

  7. Let broth cool.

  8. Strain through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth.

  9. Discard solids or feed the meaty bits to pets (not great for human consumption due to texture).

  10. Transfer broth to storage containers — refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze for months.

⚠️ Safety Notes

  • If freezing, leave headspace in jars so the broth can expand.

  • Use freezer-safe containers — not all mason jars are safe for freezing.

  • Do NOT microwave bone broth — it alters gelatin at a molecular level and may make it harmful.

  • Reheat in a stainless steel pan on the stove for best results.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Broth will gel after cooling — that’s a good thing!

  • Add herbs like thyme, rosemary, or parsley for variety.

  • Use in soups, stews, sauces, or sip it warm for gut health and joint support.
