New Shipping Updates
Hello, I’m Katie with John Henry’s, and today I wanted to share some changes we need to make with our farm and website. Let me first say, THANK YOU to all of you, our amazing customers, who have stood with us over the last few years. We wouldn’t be here without you. We aren’t a big box store or a factory farm. And we are not Amazon with warehouses across the country, we are just a small family farm in the thumb of Michigan. When you buy from our small business, you are supporting our family and the families of our team.
When we started shipping several years ago, it would cost between $10-20 per package, depending on the size and location of delivery. Now those numbers have doubled, and some have even tripled. We've crunched all the numbers and tried everything we can think of, and it's come down to asking you, our loyal customer, to help cover the cost of shipping the meat to you.
We are working with our IT team to develop a direct connection between our website and UPS so that you pay just the cost that UPS charges us for shipping. This process may take several months to complete, so in the meantime, we have created a flat rate shipping schedule that would help to cover some of the shipping costs based on the size of your order.
We want you to know that by partnering with us regarding the shipping, you are helping to keep our small family farm going.
To help offset the costs, we want to share some money-saving tips with you.
Tip #1 – Join our Farm Share program.
A cross between a "Co-op" and "Subscribe and Save," our subscription service (Farm Share) allows you to enjoy meat deliveries with benefits. Members save 5-7 % on every Farm Share order over $100, plus get exclusive access to new products, sneak peeks, and priority & reduced shipping. This is an excellent program because you choose how often you wish to receive your order, such as bi-weekly, monthly, every six weeks, or every eight weeks, and any additional orders placed to receive the discount.
Tip #2 – Loyalty Points
We want to reward our loyal customers, so every order over $100 earns you 1 point for every dollar. This happens automatically and will show up in your account after completing your first order. You can redeem up to 1000 points at a time, giving you $50.00 off your next order. Check your account to see how many points you can redeem.
Tip #3 – Discounted Products & Sales
Partnering with our farm to help with these shipping costs has allowed us to discount some of our most popular cuts, like Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast and our Hickory Smoked Bacon, among other things. These special discounts are only for our customers who place online orders, and we also plan to offer additional items on sale to help you save even more. To stay in the loop with our specials, subscribe to our weekly newsletter and follow us on social media.
Tip #4 – Place a little larger order.
If you are used to placing small orders often, it may be more cost-effective to wait until your order is a little larger to save on shipping costs.
Tip #5 – Local Pick Up
If you live within driving distance of our farm or the two farmers' markets we attend, please consider picking up your order. You can still take advantage of the above benefits, including our Farm Share discount and other sale items. By using this tip, there are NO shipping costs.
We really wish it hadn't come to this, but we are hoping for a brighter future. Thank you so much for partnering with us to keep our farm going.
